Cape's Blue Rock Is In Top 10 Par-3 Golf Courses - Worldwide!

The Blue Rock Golf Course in South Yarmouth was named one of Golf Magazine’s top 10 par-3 golf courses in its June 2011 issue. In the article, Golf Magazine’s Senior Editor Joe Passov explains “the greatest par-3 courses are every bit as scenic and thought-provoking as their bigger brothers . . . (and) whether you go 9 or 18, you've found some extra time in your day.”

Naming Blue Rock as #7 on this prestigious list, Passov describes the course as follows, “If you've got a golf itch to scratch on Cape Cod, tee it up at this woodsy, par-54, 1962 Geoffrey Cornish design. The 169-yard ninth remains the standout, with its healthy poke over water to a kidney-shaped green.” Blue Rock is in good company on the list with top courses from Bermuda, Las Vegas, California and even China.

10 Best Cape Public Golf Courses

The Cape has over 50 golf courses, the most of any area north of Myrtle Beach (note - unverified factoid). The Boston Examiner ran a story about the best courses that non-members can play, for a fee. It's a good list, and I've already played 4 of them. The Examiner story can be found ... Here. A Perfect Mothers' Day

It's Mothers Day. I'm sure my wife, Beverly, would agree that today was a great Mother's Day. It started with church and Sunday school, followed by a brunch at the Jailhouse Restaurant with friends, and then 18 holes of golf at Yarmouth's Blue Rock Golf Course. The weather was perfect for golf and Bev beat me handily. I need the practice. Badly.

Blue Rock is one of the finest Par-3 golf courses in the country. The photo on the right is of the signature 9th hole, a 169 yard shot over water onto an elevated green. The men's blue tees are slightly higher than the green while the ladies' red tees are below, forcing the ladies to tee-off uphill.
