Last Voyage of the Tugboat Hammer

The tugboat Hammer's last voyage will likely be to the dump. The storm a week or so ago drove the wreck from it's long time resting place up onto Cooks Brook Beach, where it broke up and has since been moved, in pieces, onto the parking lot. Check out its current ugly state.

A sad end to a boat that's been a part of those beaches for nearly 50 years. Great picture, Bob.

I remember "discovering" the wreck in the late 1960's while on vacation. We would go back and visit it every year. I've stayed at the house which the wreck was in front of quite a few times. I also watched it every day on the Summerhome Baycam. It's a shame to see it gone. I understand that the pieces are in storage though, so it never got to the dump.
